Charles Van Canneyt Low Table

A sculptural statement in stone and timber, this black slate coffee table is defined by balance, texture, and architectural clarity. The tabletop is composed of four solid, hand-finished slate slabs, each distinct and individually detached, creating subtle linear divisions that celebrate the material’s natural character. Slight undulations ripple across the stone surfaces, catching the light and revealing the organic depth of the slate’s dark tones.

Beneath, two solid oak beams anchor the composition. The burned finish enhances the grain while lending a quiet intensity and tactile richness to the base. Carefully proportioned and recessed, the beams create the illusion that the stone planes are floating. A piece that feels both monolithic and light, where craftsmanship and raw texture complement each other.
